Aquatic vegetation is an important source of nutrition for the largest cervid in the world. Why? Water plants contain minerals bull moose need to grow antlers.

Reproduction

The female is sexually mature at approximately 1 ½ years old. Mating takes place between mid-September and October. 1 or 2 calves are born between late May and early June, after an 8 month gestation period and are weaned after 4-5 months.

Alimentation

Herbivorous, feeding on leaves, herbaceous and aquatic plants.

Prédateurs

Grey wolf, cougar and grizzly bear. Calves can also be the prey of black bear.

Longévité

Average of 8 to 12 up to 20 years in the wild.
