The goat is a herbivore ruminant, from the Bovidae family. It has been domesticated for about 10,000 years, from the Neolithic period, first probably for its milk, and then for its fur, meat and skin.

Reproduction

From the age of 1 for the female and 5 months for the male, mating takes place at the end of the summer until the beginning of the winter. After an approximate 5 month gestation period, the female generally gives birth to one or two kids, which will be weaned around 4 to 5 months old.

Alimentation

Herbivore, feeding on leaves, branches and shrubs.

Prédateurs

Human and wolf.

Longévité

Around 18 years.
