Geese have been domesticated for thousands of years and now live among barnyard animals all over the world. There are dozens of races, all used for meat and eggs.

Reproduction

Depending on the breed, from the age of 1 year, the female starts to lay towards the end of April, generally from 4 to 6 eggs (3 to 12) that she incubates for approximately 30 days. A goose can lay approximately 50 eggs per year.

Alimentation

Herbivore, adults feed primarily on vegetable matter whereas goslings also consume small invertebrates.

Longévité

Around 20 years.
