With its highly developed sense of smell, the wolverine can easily detect the scent of carcasses buried deep under the snow.

Reproduction

Sexually mature at 1 to 2 years. Mating occurs between May and July. The 2-3 young are born between January and April after a delayed implantation (7 months) followed by an active gestation period of 30-40 days, and are weaned after 7-10 weeks.

Alimentation

Carnivorous, feeding mostly on carrion but also take small or weak animals.

Prédateurs

No real natural predator, however, they are occasionally taken by gray wolf, cougar and bear.

Longévité

Up to 10 years in the wild and 17 years in captivity.
