This species contributes largely to feeding Asian populations. Over the course of several millennia, it has been domesticated. The domestic goose has a prominent bill knob and is larger than its wild counterpart. This domesticated race is called Chinese goose or Guinea goose.
Reproduction
From the age of 2 years old, mating and egg laying take place between April and May. The female incubates 3 to 8 eggs for 28 to 30 days.
Alimentation
Herbivorous, feeding on roots, leaves and seeds of aquatic plants. It supplements its diet with fruit.
Prédateurs
Fox, birds of prey, crows and ravens among others.
Longévité
Approximately 10 years in the wild.
