Like all corvids, the American crow is an intelligent bird. It can fool other species by imitating their cries. It watches where other crows hide their food to better raid their reserves. This common crow can make tools, for example, using a twig to reach insects.

Reproduction

Couples are monogamous and can mate as early as 2 years of age. The average clutch size is 4 to 5 eggs per season. For 4 to 5 weeks, nestlings come and go from the nest.

Alimentation

Omnivorous, the American crow feeds on dead animals, insects, fruit, seeds, small rodents, eggs, chicks, frogs, etc.

Prédateurs

Birds of prey and raccoon.

Longévité

In nature, around 7-8 years.
